Track Dissection aims to capture the essence of an artist’s song: the effort behind it, the context surrounding it, and the emotions etched within it. In each piece, the artist pulls back the curtain of their work, revealing its intimacies.

Initial Idea

Most songs start with Chloe. She usually tracks a demo on
garageband and then sends it to the band for their thoughts.

This song was done on Chloe’s phone. We included a screenshot of it and her weird way of remembering how she played it on guitar.

Lyrics

I think with this one I (Chloe) sat down and accidentally played a chord progression I liked. In my opinion most good songs come naturally and so if I’m feeling creative I try to nurture that feeling and see if something cool comes out of it. I think the title of the song is inspired by a poem I was reading and the lyrics are kind of in line with feeling like I was finally emerging from a really bad situation.

“Acute hypochondriac” will always funny because it sounds like “a cute hypochondriac” But in all seriousness Chloe has diagnosed OCD and is terrified of contamination. Also “My shoes only come in black” is funny because there’s an ongoing joke that Chloe has way too many pairs of shoes and all of them are black. I don’t think there’s one pair that isn’t.

I’m not gone I’m coming back

See right through the space where I’m at

Acute Hypochondriac

I’m not gone I’m coming back

My shoes only come in black

I don’t chase I only attack

I write like a maniac

I’m not gone I’m coming back
